It's probation......deferred adjuducation. In the state of Texas you can elect to take deferred for speeding tickets up to 15 mph over the limitand other traffic infractions, you pay the fine and a small admin fee and they give you probation for x number of days depending on the offence(higher the speed thelonger the defferred) If you get a ticket for more than 15 over the clerk can't give it to you, you have to go to a pre-trial and the county prosecuters will generally offer it to you. I got a 93 in a 60 in Irving, I asked for a trial, they offered me deferred for 90 days and I took it. I paid my fee and since I didn't get a ticket in that jurisdiction for the 90 day period the ticket is dropped. It wont show up on your record or insurance :) They say your not allowed to get another ticket for the same thing statewide but they will also admit it's only really traceable in their county ;-p ....ps...if you do get a ticket on deferred just keep postponing the pre-trial date until the deferred is up and they will give you deferred again :) So that's the jist of Deferred Adjudication 101
